Woman Sues Dress Maker After Finding Rodent Sewn Into It

A New York woman who noticed an odd smell while wearing a new dress got the surprise of her life when she realized what was causing the odor — and it’s very disturbing.

Cailey Fiesel discovered parts of a dead mouse sewn into the hem of a dress she purchased from a Zara store in Greenwich, Connecticut, reported WCNC.

According to court documents, Fiesel purchased two black dresses from the Zara store in July.

When Fiesel wore one of the dresses to work for the first time a few weeks later, she noticed a “disturbingly pungent odor.” She left her desk and walked around in an attempt to escape the smell but was unable to do.

Later on the same day, Fiesel felt what she believed to be a loose string hanging against her leg.

“To her utter shock and disbelief, as she ran her hand over the hem of the dress she felt an unusual bulge and suddenly realized that it was not a string that was rubbing against her leg but was instead a leg rubbing against her leg,” the court documents say.

That bulge was not a ball of string, as one might guess — it was the leg of a dead mouse.

Of course Fiesel got photographic evidence.

Talk about gross and disgusting.

Fiesel reportedly jumped out of her chair and was “paralyzed with fear” before she ran to remove the dress.

Fiesel allegedly contracted a rash that is related to rodent-borne disease.

Fiesel is suing the clothing store for two causes: negligence and product liability. The documents added that Fiesel continues to suffer “damages, personal injury and emotional distress.”
