On Wednesday, Britain took a step towards making history by officially invoking Article 50, beginning the so-called Brexit process — a process that is expected to take up to two years to complete.
Britain’s decision to leave the European Union still has much of Britain divided. Roger Daltrey, the founder and leader singer of the band “The Who,” stated that Brexit was the right thing for Britain, NME reported.
“It’s got nothing to do with any of the immigration issues or any of that for me. It was to do with much more. The majority of this country felt that their voices weren’t being heard,” Daltrey explained in the interview.
The Brussels bureaucrats had made it clear they weren’t interested in working with former Prime Minister David Cameron, Daltrey added.
“It would have been nice to do a deal with Europe but they didn’t want to do a deal, and they sent Cameron back with a bag,” he said.
Much of Britain, just like much of America, was sick and tired of getting the short end of the stick when it came to globalization, and they let their dissatisfaction be known loud and clear last summer.
“We are getting out, and when the dust settles I think that it’ll be seen that it’s the right thing for this country to have done, that’s for sure,” Daltrey stated.
The elites in Europe and America were put on notice in 2016 by the unprecedented wave of anti-globalization movements that swept the globe.
With Britain leaving the EU and President Donald Trump working to put “America First,” the world is finally reining in globalization, and countries are working to help their own citizens for a change.
This could well be the beginning of the end of this wave of globalization. The elites in their halls of power had their chance, but now the people have spoken, and they have indicated they are tired of the way things are.
