Trump Tells CNN Analyst He Likes Him Tears CNN Apart on Live TV

In honor of February being Black History Month, President Donald Trump hosted a “listening session” in the White House on Wednesday with several of his supporters and other leaders from the black community.

According to USA Today, while Trump offered high praise for various historical black figures and some of the current leaders of the community, he also used the opportunity of his opening remarks to take a few shots at his arch-nemesis — the duplicitous mainstream media.

Trump repeatedly admonished the media for publishing “fake news” and outright lies about him and his administration, but also slipped in a few comments of praise, mostly reserved for Fox News, which he said is fair.

Trump also had kind words for a CNN political analyst named Paris Dennard, who is also a member of his National Diversity Coalition, which is headed up by the Rev. Darrell Scott.

“I met Darrel when he was defending me on television. (Laughter) And the people that were on the other side of the argument didn’t have a chance, right?” said Trump, according to Grabien. “And Paris has done an amazing job in a very hostile CNN community. All by himself with seven people and Paris. I’ll take Paris over the seven.”

“But I don’t watch CNN, so I don’t get to see you as much,” he added. “I don’t like watching fake news. But Fox has treated me very nice, wherever Fox is.”

According to The Washington Post, Trump also took a shot at the media over the false initial reports that he had removed the bust of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. from the Oval Office.

But Trump really leveled his metaphorical guns at the media near the end of his opening remarks, literally calling them a “disgrace” and reiterating that they are currently the “opposition party” to his administration.

“I mean, a lot of the media is actually the opposition party. They’re so biased and really it’s a disgrace. Some of the media’s fantastic and fair, but so much of the media is opposition party, knowingly saying incorrect things,” Trump said. “So it’s a very sad situation, but we seem to be doing well … So maybe they don’t have the influence they think.”

“But they really are. They really have to straighten out their act. They’re very dishonest people,” he added.

You can watch part of Trump’s opening remarks right here. While he took several shots at the media throughout the event, the relevant quip about CNN being “fake news” came at the end:

The media declared virtual open war on Trump a long time ago, but unlike most other past Republicans, this GOP president isn’t afraid of hitting back, and in fact seems to relish the opportunity at times.

The mainstream media outlets are indeed quite dishonest, and unless they wish to continue marginalizing themselves among the bulk of the American people, they would be wise to simply report on the facts and let the viewers and readers make up their own minds about things, instead of serving up lopsided dishes of partisan hackery.
