Speaking Thursday aboard the nation’s newest nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford, President Donald Trump triggered a round of applause after he promised some of America’s finest that he intended to expand the entire Navy fleet.
“In these troubled times, our Navy is the smallest it’s been since World War I,” he said. “That’s a long time ago. In fact, I just spoke with Navy and industry leaders and have discussed my plans to undertake a major expansion of our entire Navy fleet, including having the 12-carrier Navy we need.”
Liberal fact-checkers might claim otherwise, given their propensity for peddling fake news, but even The Associated Press knew that Trump had been speaking the truth when he promised to expand the Navy.
In a report published two months ago, the AP revealed that Trump had proposed “the biggest shipbuilding boom since the end of the Cold War to meet threats from a resurgent Russia and saber-rattling China.”
But the truth was that the president hoped to do more than just big the military bigger. He also aspired to make it better.
“We will have the finest equipment in the world — planes, ships and everything else,” he emphatically said. “We are going to have, very soon, the finest equipment in the world.”
Listen to the entire speech below, or fast forward to the 17:35 mark to hear Trump’s promise to expand the Navy:
“We also need more aircraft, modernized capabilities, and greater force levels,” he continued. “Additionally, we must vastly improve our cyber capabilities. This great rebuilding effort will create many jobs in Virginia, and all across America, and it will also spur new technology and new innovation.”
A grander military, a larger Navy fleet, better technology and more jobs for both citizens and military soldiers — what is there to dislike about this?
Nothing, though knowing them, the liberal media will of course find something to complain about.
