A former winner of current GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump’s Miss Teen USA pageant said this week that she has “never had a bad experience” with him.
“As far as the rumors surrounding him coming backstage and things like that, dressing rooms — absolutely not,” Katie Blair, now 28, said in a video. “I never experienced that. I don’t know anyone that has.”
She was referencing the four former contestants who this week told BuzzFeed that Trump had allegedly walked into their dressing room during the 1997 Miss Teen USA pageant and reassured them that it was OK, saying, “Don’t worry, ladies — I’ve seen it all before.”
“I remember putting on my dress really quick because I was like, ‘Oh my God, there’s a man in here,’” one of the contestants, former Miss Vermont Teen USA Mariah Billado, claimed.
The other three women, all unnamed, confirmed Billado’s experience, saying that they found Trump’s behavior to be “shocking” and “creepy.”
Blair, however, disputed these accusations, maintaining that while Trump had plenty of opportunities to either leer at or make sexual advances, he never once did.
You can see her statement here:
“As far as back stage goes, I mean, you’re talking about a live production here,” she continued. “You have no time. So, he’s not putzing around back there while girls are just stark naked. There’s just literally no time, no space.”
And according to BuzzFeed, eleven other women from the 1997 Miss Teen USA pageant have essentially taken Blair’s side, stating that they did not recall ever seeing Trump in the dressing room.
It sounded like a case of she said, she said, except that the ones saying Trump never did any such thing far outnumbered those who claim he did.
