Trump Establishes Program to Support the Victims of Criminal Illegals

President Donald Trump’s deeply-rooted concern for the victims of criminal illegals was on full display last month when, in accordance with his executive orders, Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly ordered U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to establish a program specifically to help those victims.

“I am establishing the Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement (VOICE) Office within the Office of the Director of ICE, which will create a programmatic liaison between ICE and the known victims of crimes committed by removable aliens,” he wrote in a memo obtained and published by The Wall Street Journal.

“To that end, I direct the director (of) lCE to immediately reallocate any and all resources that are currently used to advocate on behalf of illegal aliens to the new VOICE Office,” he said.

ICE had already been providing limited outreach services to the victims of criminal aliens, but by establishing a dedicated program, Secretary Kelly made certain that victims would henceforth receive the dedicated attention they no doubt deserve.

This was all done in accordance with the president’s desire to focus a spotlight on victims of illegal immigrants, whom he has long maintained have been “largely ignored” by both the government and the media.

“For years the media has largely ignored the stories of Americans and lawful residents victimized by open borders,” he said during remarks made last month to the Department of Homeland Security following the signing of an executive order on illegal immigration. “To all of those hurting out there, I repeat to you these words: We hear you, we see you, and you will never, ever be ignored again.”

The president apparently meant every word, and he was dead serious about assisting the largely ignored and sometimes mocked men and women who have lost spouses, siblings and children because of the former administration’s open-border policies. This is evident by his words, his executive actions and his plan to form a new ICE department.

It is just a shame that it took this long for these actions to be taken. Had previous presidents shown the same concern, so much pain and heartache could have been avoided.
