SLACKERS: Here’s the List of Countries Trump Says Are Cheating the World

President-elect Donald Trump has every right to be infuriated with members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, as a majority of member states are reportedly reneging on their obligation to spend at least 2 percent of their GDP on defense.

According to data compiled during the summer by Atlantic Media’s Defense One, a whopping 22 of the 28 nations in NATO were failing to meet their obligations.

These nations are France, Turkey, Norway, Lithuania, Romania, Latvia, Portugal, Bulgaria, Croatia, Albania, Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, Slovak Republic, Italy, Czech Republic, Hungary, Canada, Slovenia, Spain, Belgium and Luxembourg.

Some nations such as Luxembourg were spending as little as 0.4 percent of their GDP on defense, all while the United States was forking over 3.4 percent of its GDP to keep itself and its deadbeat allies protected.

The point was that a majority of NATO’s members had become the equivalent of welfare leeches, using the program to ensure their own survival while barely making any effort to protect themselves or their allies.

This was why Trump had fiercely denounced NATO during the summer, pledging that the United States would not necessarily provide support to NATO member states who failed to meet their obligations.

“They have an obligation to make payments,” Trump said during an interview in July with The New York Times. “Many NATO nations are not making payments, are not making what they’re supposed to make. That’s a big thing. You can’t say forget that.”

When then asked pointedly whether he would or would not provide support to member states, he replied by asking, “Have they fulfilled their obligations to us?”

“If they fulfill their obligations to us, the answer is, ‘yes,’” he added, signaling that the answer may very well be an emphatic “no” for those nations that refused to pay their fair share.

These statements triggered an avalanche of fear-mongering from the leftist media, which continued blabbering about Trump being an alleged threat to the West even after he won the election. But as Defense One’s data showed, he was right on the money … again.
