“Sick of Fancy White People”: Will Media Report Vicious Racial Attack in Virginia?

Sick of Fancy White People Will Media Report Vicious Racial Attack in Virginia

An apparent racially motivated crime at a gas station in Virginia has led to the arrest of a woman who allegedly attacked a couple and damaged their car and boat in part because they were white and had “fancy” vehicles, according to a local news report.

Angela Jones, a 26-year-old from Newark, New Jersey, was arrested Wednesday after she was identified as the woman who went on a rampage at a gas station off Interstate 95 in central Virginia, WTVR-TV reported.

During the attack, Jones, who is black, allegedly said she was “sick of fancy white people.”

The assault happened Saturday as the victims were driving back from Florida to Massachusetts. The driver, who asked to be identified only as “Bob,” said he was pumping gas into his 2016 Porsche SUV when the confrontation began.

“This lady was a couple pumps over and talking to me and yelling at somebody about having a message for her. I had no idea what she was talking about,” Bob said.

“I was coming around the side of the car and next thing I know, a car blocks me in. She comes out of her car gets in my face and yelling at me about some sort of message I got for her.”

While he tried to brush the woman off by not paying attention to her, she continued to rant about his “fancy boat” and then got a hammer.

“She actually took a hammer and she hit his vehicle and the boat,” Caroline County Sheriff Tony Lippa told WTVR. “She actually clawed him. He took her down to the ground to prevent her from doing any more damage.”

“I let her go and she grabbed the hammer again and hit the boat again,” Bob told the station. “(The hammer) broke. That’s when she figured out she better get out of there because she didn’t have a weapon anymore.”

However, Jones allegedly had a message for Bob’s wife before she left.

“There were some racial slurs directed at (the female victim), at which time the accused spit in her face,” Sheriff Lippa told reporters. “According to the victim, there were racial slurs that were yelled at her before she spit at her and that’s what we’re looking into as far as it being a hate crime.”

“I have no idea why she started going after us, but I guess she thought we were some rich people,” Bob said.

During the incident, a bystander snapped a photo of the assailant’s car. That and video footage from the Exxon station led to Jones’ arrest. Fox News reported that Caroline County officials were still investigating whether Jones should be charged with a hate crime.

Why that would need much investigation is beyond me, but we certainly hope justice is served.
