President-elect Donald Trump is working day and night to choose the cabinet for the Trump administration, and he’s making sure to choose only the best of the best.
On Sunday, Trump announced that Reince Priebus, chairman of the Republican National Committee, will be White House chief of staff. Now Trump must choose the cabinet itself.
The New York Times published a short list of people being considered for Trump’s cabinet.
Among the names for secretary of state are Tennessee Republican Sen. Bob Corker and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
Trump is considering New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions for attorney general.
Christie is on the list for two positions, as he is also being considered for commerce secretary.
Many might be surprised that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin made the list for interior secretary. Her name is listed alongside others such as former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer and Forrest Lucas, president of Lucas Oil Products.
Trump’s former competitors are in a tough race for health and human services secretary. Familiar names such as retired neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, former Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal all made the list, along with Florida Gov. Rick Scott.
Carson was reported to also be in the running to become the next education secretary.
When it comes to homeland security secretary, Trump is considering a very controversial figure. Departing sheriff of Maricopa County, Arizona, Joe Arpaio is rumored to be on the short list for the position, along with Sessions.
Trump’s list is full of impressive names, so it won’t be a surprise when only the best of the best are hired to work in the White House.
