Sean Hannity Responds to Ted Koppels Attack on His Show

After a heated exchange on CBS Sunday Morning, conservative talk show host Sean Hannity struck back at Ted Koppel on Twitter over Koppel’s claim that Hannity’s show was bad for America.

During the exchange — which, according to the U.K. Daily Mail, Hannity said was edited — Koppel said that “influential” shows like Hannity’s are bad for America “in the long haul.”

“Do you think we’re bad for America? You think I’m bad for America?” Hannity asked, to which Koppel replied yes.

“You have attracted people who are determined that ideology is more important than facts,” the ABC News veteran said, apparently unfazed by or unaware of the irony.

Hannity called Koppel “cynical,” which the newsman assented to. He also argued that Americans are smart enough to know what’s opinion and what’s fact.

“We have to give some credit to the American people that they are somewhat intelligent and that they know the difference between an opinion show and a news show,” Hannity said.

Afterwards, the Fox News host jumped onto Twitter to give his side of the story:

I think it’s rather ironic about the fact that Koppel seems to be talking about himself being on the side of facts and Hannity being on the side of opinion during an interview meticulously edited by network news.

I also think it’s ironic that Koppel actually thinks that opinion is “bad for America.” Yes, apparently in a country where freedom of speech is a paramount virtue, one of our veteran newsmen is actually arguing that freedom is bad for us.

With all due respect to Mr. Koppel, this is the mainstream media’s current gambit: Their opinions are facts and our facts are opinions, and America really needs to listen to more of their opinions. America has grown wise to this, as Hannity pointed out. That’s why most people reject the kind of narratives that the mainstream media are pushing.
