REPORT: Trump Might Fire James Comey From His Post

After reopening the Hillary Clinton email investigation, by all appearances FBI Director James Comey did as little as possible in the process of clearing Hillary (you know, again). Now he could be doing even less on a permanent basis — although through no choice of his own.

According to The Daily Caller, rumors circulating throughout Washington, D.C., in the wake of Donald Trump’s election have the president-elect dismissing Comey for his ineffectiveness.

Directors of the FBI are usually appointed to a ten-year term so as to remove any semblance of politicization to the process. However, Director Comey serves at the pleasure of the president and can be dismissed at any time.

It’s not just Republicans who are furious with Comey going through 650,000 emails on Anthony Weiner’s laptop in just eight days and then declaring Hillary Clinton to be as pure as the driven snow. Democrats are also furious that he chose to pursue the investigation at all, pointing to his decision as the reason Hillary Clinton lost.

When asked about whether he planned to keep Comey during an interview on CBS News’ “60 Minutes,” Trump said he didn’t know yet.

“I haven’t made up my mind,” Trump told reporter Leslie Stahl. “I respect him a lot, I respect the FBI a lot … I would like to talk to him before I answer a question like that.”

“Sounds like you’re not sure,” she replied.

“I’m not sure,” Trump acknowledged. “I’d want to see — he may have had very good reasons for doing what he did.”

However, a recent report indicated that many FBI agents had lost faith Comey over his interference with the Clinton investigation.

“This is a textbook case where a grand jury should have convened but was not. That is appalling,” a special agent speaking anonymously said. “We talk about it in the office and don’t know how Comey can keep going.”

“We didn’t search their house. We always search the house. The search should not just have been for private electronics, which contained classified material, but even for printouts of such material.”

Given this sort of animosity and the opprobrium on both sides of the aisle, it may be time to make a clean break, and the rumors flying around seem to indicate the president-elect is leaning in this direction. We’ll keep you updated on what happens.
