The Islamic State group has earned a reputation for its inconceivable torture for all kinds of crimes, including homosexuality and adultery. But at least on one occasion, a stoning didn’t turn out the way it was intended.
The U.K. Daily Mail reported that a Syrian woman survived a stoning and managed to escape her captors because it was “God’s will that she lived.”
Islamic State group jihadists stoned the woman because she had allegedly committed adultery. After the stoning, they covered her body and left her for dead.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the woman “miraculously” walked away from the stoning, which happened in January 2015, alive.
The organization said the terrorist group sentenced the woman to be executed in the town of Raqqa, which is controlled by the Islamic State group. The militants stoned the woman until they thought she was dead, after which they placed a tarpaulin over her body.
But when they stopped stoning her, she stood up and attempted to run away.
“An IS militant was about to open fire at her when an Islamist jurist intervened and stopped him saying it was God’s will that she did not die,” the Observatory told the Daily Mail.
The jurist told the woman she was free, but that she must repent.
He reportedly told the militant: “Her sentence is done, let her go and repent to her God.”

There’s no doubt the Islamic State group is a bunch of uncivilized animals, but at least one woman lived to tell the world about surviving their torture.
