President Donald Trump vowed that as president he would stop the flow of illegal immigrants into the United States, and it appears that his policies so far have done just that.
Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly announced on Wednesday that the first two months of the Trump presidency have seen a significant drop in the number of those caught crossing the border illegally, which likely means a corresponding drop in actual attempts, USA Today reported.
There has been a roughly 40 percent drop in the number of people arrested or halted at the border this year. That’s huge!
“Since President Trump took office on Jan. 20, we have seen a dramatic drop in numbers,” Kelly said in a statement. “This trend is encouraging because it means many fewer people are putting themselves and their families at risk of exploitation, assault and injury by human traffickers and the physical dangers of the treacherous journey north.”
This probably isn’t something you’ll see reported very much in the liberal news.
Fox News noted that the “number of illegal border crossings has dropped from 31,578 (in January) to 18,762 persons (in February),” which is particularly significant given that January and February are usually months that see an increase in traffic.
“Since the administration’s implementation of executive orders to enforce immigration laws, apprehensions and inadmissible activity is trending toward the lowest monthly total in at least the last five years,” the statement said.
Trump hasn’t even built the wall yet and already the number of illegals crossing has dropped sharply. This is good news for America because it makes us that much safer.
Hopefully, through the wall and other actions Trump will be able to get that number down to zero, or at least very close to zero. If anyone can do it, Trump can.
