Former talk show host Regis Philbin broke from the anti-Trump pack of Hollywood celebrities this week by defending President Donald Trump’s actions to date.

“Well, so far, I think he’s done quite well, don’t you? He’s getting things done that were never done before,” Philbin said when interviewed by TMZ in West Hollywood.

“Anyway, who knows?” said Philbin, 85, the former host of Live! With Regis and Kathie Lee which later became Live! With Regis and Kelly. “So we will see. I’ll give him a little more time.”

Philbin noted that he surprised there was even a Trump presidency to discuss.

“I didn’t believe it was going to happen, but he made it,” Philbin told TMZ Thursday, speaking of Trump’s stunning victory over Hillary Clinton.

Philbin also had kind words for a man who will need them — Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Neil Gorsuch.

“I kinda like the guy,” Philbin said.

Philbin discussed Trump in a July interview with Newsday.

” … sometimes he gets a little hot about something and I worry about that. But he’s a good guy. He means well,” Philbin said then.

“He does get mad at people sometimes when they do something to aggravate him and I worry about that. I think he could be a great president if he gets the chance,” he added.

Philbin said he first met Trump in 1983, when what was expected to be a three-minute conversation turned into a 45-minute session.

During a January 2016 interview with Canadian TV, Philbin expressed similar sentiments.

“I wish he would calm down a little bit, but I’m not going to get involved,” Philbin said then.

Philbin also looked into his crystal ball to predict what a Trump presidency might be like.

“I think that he’ll be on fire if he becomes president,” he said. “It might be the best thing that ever happened … for him and maybe for the country. We’ll all find out together.”
