These days, liberal activism turns up pretty much everywhere, including even at preschool day cares — yes, preschool day cares.

In this particular case, it showed up at an Illinois preschool day care Tuesday when a 4-year-old boy named Hunter brought a shell casing to school to share with his buddies.

In an update posted to Facebook later that evening, the boy’s mother, Kristy Jackson, explained that the school chose to suspend her son for bringing what it falsely labeled a “shotgun bullet” to school that day.

“I was handed a piece of paper,” she wrote. “No words, just eyebrows raised in disgust at my son, explaining that his behavior warranted a 7 school day suspension. Which I still was expected to pay tuition for, of course. And a threat that if his enthusiasm for guns continued, he’d be permanently expelled.”

Enthusiasm for guns? Hardly. Besides bringing a shell casing — not a “shotgun bullet” — to school Tuesday, Hunter also used another toy as a make-believe gun the day before, according to news station KTVI.

But there was a reason for this temporary “enthusiasm”: Hunter had gone “target practicing with his Police Officer Grandpa” over the weekend, Jackson explained on Facebook. That was where he picked up the shell casing so he could later sneak it to school and show his buddies.

Bringing the shell casing to school was definitely a big no-no, but still, suspending Hunter — while condescendingly raising their eyebrows in disgust, as Jackson wrote — was both outrageous and stupid, as this incident could have easily been used as a teaching moment.

“This could have been handled by explaining appropriate behavior at school,” Hunter’s mom wrote. “He’s 4. This doesn’t hurt him, or teach him, or help him. Just his parents, who do not condone bringing these kinds of things to school. Ever. Had we known, we of course would have stopped it. But every time he or another child mentions a gun (like every boy I grew up with did) they punish him.”

Stupid is as stupid does, and the officials at the A Place 2 Grow preschool day care are indeed idiots. Boneheads. Morons. Simpletons.

For not only did they mishandle the situation with Hunter, they reportedly emailed the boy’s mother telling her that they would be reporting the family to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.

*facepalm*

They also threatened to expel Hunter from the school if his “issues continue to be present or other issues arise,” because God forbid a young boy show even the slightest interest in guns in 21st-century America, where liberalism activism can literally be found everywhere.
