Kirsten Gillibrand’s Ignorance About Guns

Kirsten Gillibrands Ignorance About Guns

Kirsten Gillibrand knows nothing about guns.

The New York Senator proved it by making idiotic comments about “deadly gun silencers” on Twitter, claiming she’ll fight efforts to make them easier to acquire.

Of course, gun suppressors (that’s what they’re really called) are not easy to get. As it stands, a person has to be photographed and fingerprinted, pay a $200 fee, and register their suppressor with the BATFE. Two GOP Congressmen are anxious to make that a little easier, Breitbart reports.

On January 9, Representatives Jeff Duncan (R-SC-3) and John Carter (R-TX-31) introduced the Hearing Protection Act. This bill points to the hearing benefits of hunting and shooting with suppressors, and it also reduces the cumbersome acquisition process for the devices by removing them from the purview of the National Firearms Act (NFA).

But Gillibrand doesn’t get it. She told the New York Daily News:

These deadly gun silencers pose a huge risk to our enforcement and our communities and I will do everything I can to stop this ill-thought-out legislation that would allow more criminals to get their hands on these dangerous weapons.

Dumb. Suppressors aren’t even weapons at all. And they certainly don’t “silence” gunfire. If anything, they reduce the sound of a 120-decibel noise by about 20-30 decibels.

But Gillibrand wasn’t done there. She doubled down on the dumb:

That didn’t go over too well with folks who have more than two brain cells to rub together.
