An analytics company has utilized voter data and national models to create a map that identifies the most conservative and liberal cities in every state.
Some of the results obtained by Clarity Campaign Labs were fairly expected. For instance, New York City, Portland and St. Louis were identified as the most liberal cities of New York, Oregon and Missouri, respectively.
However, who would have expected Des Moines to be the the most liberal city of Iowa (Ames might have been a better bet), or Garden City to be the most conservative city of Texas?
Take a look at map below, courtesy Business Insider:
The company also has created a tool to help Americans choose the best location for their next home.
Available for use on the Clarity Campaign Labs website, the tool bases one’s preferred state with how one rates the following seven statements (agree, disagree or don’t include) to pinpoint the best fit for the user:
- I identify with the Democrats more so than the Republicans.
- Abortion should be legal and accessible to all women.
- I attend religious services regularly.
- Climate change is an immediate concern that must be addressed.
- There should be more restrictions on purchasing and carrying guns.
- The government should reduce the deficit primarily by raising taxes rather than cutting services.
- I prefer urban areas.
Assuming the data behind the tool is accurate, it could be very useful for conservatives who prefer to avoid the policies of Democrat-dominated cities.
As noted by the liberal magazine The Atlantic three years ago, not only do “(l)iberal cities seem to have the worst affordability crisis,” but they also tend to feature the most crime.
Two years for, as an example, USA Today ran a story about the soaring gun crime in Baltimore, Chicago, Milwaukee, New Orleans and St. Louis, though according to Breitbart, it neglected to mention “(t)he common denominator in all five cities — decades of Democrat mayoral leadership.”
Plus, liberal cities protect illegal immigrants, make excuses for indigent criminals and tax the heck out of their inhabitants, which raises the question — who on Earth would want to live in them?
