Actor George Clooney couldn’t pass up an opportunity to slam President Donald Trump while in France at the 42nd Cesar awards, which is the French equivalent to the American Academy Awards.
While accepting an honorary Cesar award for his contribution to film, Clooney criticized the president.
The actor said that “citizens of the world” must work “harder and harder not to let hate win, according to The Associated Press.
“The actions of this president have caused alarm and dismay amongst our allies abroad and given considerable comfort to our enemies, and whose fault is that? Not really his. He didn’t create this situation of fear, he merely exploited it — and rather successfully,” he continued.
“Cassius was right: The fault, dear Brutus, lies not in our stars but in ourselves,” he concluded.
Actor Jean Dujardin provided a loose translation for Clooney’s remarks, adding his own attack on Trump, saying Trump was a “danger for the world.”
You can watch the entire speech here, if you can stand it:
Clooney should be careful while criticizing the president and those who support him, because they can hit him where it hurts — in the pocketbook. Clooney doesn’t deserve one cent of hard-working Americans’ money if all he can do is bash them and their choice for president.
