Former US Attorney Says Susan Rice Ordered Spreadsheets of Trumps Phone Calls

Former National Security Advisor Susan Rice could be in more hot water over the “unmasking” scandal after a former federal attorney alleged that she asked for “detailed spreadsheets” on phone calls made by individuals affiliated with Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.

The phone calls she focused on, according to former U.S. Attorney Joseph diGenova, were entirely legal.

“What was produced by the intelligence community at the request of Ms. Rice were detailed spreadsheets of intercepted phone calls with unmasked Trump associates in perfectly legal conversations with individuals,” diGenova told The Daily Caller on Monday.

“The overheard conversations involved no illegal activity by anybody of the Trump associates, or anyone they were speaking with,” he continued. “In short, the only apparent illegal activity was the unmasking of the people in the calls.”

The Daily Caller News Foundation reported that the behavior was occurring long before Americans went to the polls in November.

“Other official sources with direct knowledge and who requested anonymity confirmed to TheDCNF diGenova’s description of surveillance reports Rice ordered one year before the 2016 presidential election,” The Daily Caller reported.

The revelations came on the same day that an article in Bloomberg revealed that Rice had “requested the identities of U.S. persons in raw intelligence reports on dozens of occasions that connect to the Donald Trump transition and campaign.”

Rice told NBC News’ Andrea Mitchell on Tuesday that she had not “prepared” spreadsheets of calls involving Trump or anyone associated with him. She did not say, however, whether she had ordered them, which was diGenova’s accusation.

Later Tuesday, diGenova told The Daily Caller that Rice’s statement “would come as quite a surprise to the government officials who have reviewed dozens of those spreadsheets.”

Susan Rice is in a world of trouble. It would be nice, of course, to see her charged and convicted if she’s committed a crime, although in a world where you can run a private server through which classified information passes out of the loo in your house and not get charged with anything, that’s likely a fantasy.

However, the woman who became a household name by lying about the Benghazi attack back in 2012, has clearly lied about her role in the surveillance of Donald Trump’s team. And she’s given ammunition to not only Trump’s claims on surveillance, but also claims that it was politically motivated.

The net is closing in, and it’s clear that steamed Republicans are looking to boil Rice.
