All-Female Kurdish Brigade Vows to Take Fight to ISIS and Avenge Capture of Women

Any time we at Conservative Tribune hear news that the Bronze Age thugs of the Islamic State group are being given a quick ticket to the afterlife, we think that’s good news. And any time that ticket is being punched by a thoroughly butt-kicking brigade of Kurdish female soldiers intent on avenging sex slaves, we think that’s even better.

According to ARA News, the Shingal Women’s Units (YJS) announced Saturday that they intend to launch a new offensive against the Islamic State group in order to “avenge Yazidi women” who have been kept and as sexual chattel in the ongoing war in Syria and Iraq.

The YJS is part of the larger Shingal Resistance Units, or YBS. It’s a militia based in northern Iraq that aims to retake the town of Tel Afar. Such a victory would not merely be symbolic. Even though the population of the town has dropped to about 80,000 from a high of 200,000, seizing Tel Afar would cut the highway between Raqqa and Mosul, depriving the Islamic State group of all-important access to supplies.

“We have not forgotten Êzidî (Yazidi) women sold in (slave) markets of Mosul or burnt alive. We know that the people that ISIS holds as hostage are waiting for us to rescue them,” the YJS said in a statement. “We will not stop until we liberate our women and take revenge.”

Such a move might anger the government of Turkey, especially since a Kurdish militia so close to the border tends to annoy the government of Turkish strongman Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

However, while instability in the region isn’t something the world needs more of, a) cutting off supplies to the Islamic State group is an important step in wiping the thugs out, and b) anything that irks President Erdogan is good with us.

So, our hats are off to you, Shingal Women’s Units. Let’s hope you can retake Tel Afar and avenge the girls taken as slaves by the Islamic State group.
