Dems Get Worst News Imaginable on Russian Hacking Gowdys Now on the Case

Ever since Democrats latched onto the “Russian hacking” claims as their reason for President-elect Donald Trump’s defeat of Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton, they have been demanding an investigation into just what the Russians did in 2016.

Despite there being no evidence that the Russians tampered with voting machines, Democrats have nonetheless insisted that Congress conduct an investigation into any possible actions carried out by the Russians.

Our liberal friends may come to regret demanding an investigation, as South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy has been given a position on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, according to a statement posted on his website.

“The House Intelligence Committee plays a vital role in protecting Americans both at home and abroad through conducting thorough oversight of our nation’s intelligence agencies. I look forward to joining the House Intelligence Committee and working with Chairman (Devin) Nunes and my colleagues to ensure national security remains the top priority in the 115th Congress,” read a statement released by Gowdy.

Gowdy gained a following in conservative circles, and hatred in Democrat circles, for the vigor he put into his investigation of the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi, Libya. Were he to be involved in a future Russian hacking investigation, we have no doubt he would work tirelessly on the matter.

Democrats might not be too happy about that, because the results of an investigation might not be what they want.

Politico noted that Senate Intelligence Chairman Richard Burr has stated that the Senate Intelligence Committee would conduct an investigation into alleged Russian involvement in the election.

A separate Politico article noted that House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes stated in December that the committee wouldn’t pursue an independent investigation of the situation but would monitor the other investigations.

It is possible that the House Intelligence Committee could reverse course this year and launch an investigation, and if they do we can rest easy knowing that Gowdy will be on the case.
