There are witless liberals, and then there’s Rep. Maxine Waters. The California Democrat has spent over a quarter-century in the House of Representatives, and she still hasn’t figured out how to come across as a coherent.
Nowhere was that more evident than during her appearance on “Hardball” on MSNBC, where Waters tried to lay out a case for preemptive impeachment of President-elect Donald Trump and ended up unintentionally making the case that perhaps the citizens of California’s 43rd District might want to rethink their electoral choices.
Chris Matthews, the host of “Hardball,” was confused about what Waters was saying with regard to Trump’s “collusion” with Russia and how he was an “illegitimate” president.
“If there’s some sort of — as you call it — collusion,” Matthews said, “Then what? Does that make Trump subject to impeachment? Just generally, tell me what you mean by the term.”
“Well, here’s what I’m trying to get to,” Waters responded. “If we discover that Donald Trump or his advocates played a role to help provide strategy — if they’re the ones who came up with ‘Crooked Hillary,’ if they’re the ones who came up with, ‘She’s ill, something’s wrong with her energy,’ and the way that he basically described her during the campaign — I think that is something that would put the question squarely on the table whether or not he should be impeached.”
Yes, apparently coming up with the nickname “Crooked Hillary” could make Trump impeachable. An incredulous Matthews asked Waters if this meant Trump could be impeached before he took office.
“Well, I think that at the point that investigations discover and confirm and can document any of that role in helping to strategize — they had a role in attempting to determine the outcome,” Waters said. “That in many ways they used the information they got when they hacked into emails, etc. — if that was used against Hillary Clinton in some way, yes I think that’s impeachable.”
Yeah, uh, what she said. Take a look at the video; it doesn’t get any more coherent in context:
I understand that Trump derangement syndrome is a very virulent disease — much more virulent than its close cousin, Bush derangement syndrome. It can cause hallucinations about Russian hackers, unprovoked tirades and delusions of popular support.
In fact, Waters might have been patient zero of the Trump derangement syndrome epidemic, showing symptoms long before the disease began to reach epidemic levels among liberals in the summer of 2015.
Take this quote from 2012, via Glenn Beck, in which Waters was talking about moderate GOP leadership: “I saw pictures of (John) Boehner and (Eric) Cantor on our screens. Don’t ever let me see again in life those Republicans in our hall, on our screens, talking about anything. These are demons.”
And Boehner and Cantor gave the Democrats everything they asked for, more or less. Just imagine what she thinks about real conservatives!
Well, actually we do know, since Human Events reported that her apparent affliction with the dread Trump derangement syndrome virus also forced her to speak out about tea party ralliers:
“I was amazed. I really was. I didn’t say anything to anybody. I just watched: The Republicans were out there, they were having a great time. They were laughing, they were waving the American flag, they were egging them on, and I thought that was outrageous behavior. I really did.”
Flag-waving? Laughing? Having a good time and not being a liberal?! Those sick creatures!
Sadly, we can see the long-term prospects for patients of Trump derangement syndrome from Waters’ appearance on “Hardball.” Aphasia and incoherence. Total liquefaction of the gray matter responsible for higher mental functioning. Poor decision-making capabilities: She did appear on “Hardball” in the first place, not exactly a sign of being in compos mentis.
Yes, prolonged experience of Trump derangement syndrome can turn you into … a California liberal. Oh well, looks like Maxine didn’t have far to fall after all.
