Radio Officials BAN Madonna After Threat to Blow up Trump White House

By now you have no doubt heard the incendiary comments made by aging pop star Madonna at the Women’s March on Washington that took place on Saturday, just one day after President Donald Trump was sworn into office.

Aside from using the “F-bomb” profusely at what was purportedly a family-friendly event, she also spoke of her desire to “blow up the White House” during her anti-Trump rant, comments she has since attempted to walk back as being metaphorical and un-serious.

But according to Fox News, Madonna’s effort to downplay her remarks were not enough to keep her from getting banned — not from the White House, but from the regular rotation on a popular radio station in northeast Texas.

The announcement came via a Facebook post from HITS 105FM in Texarkana, Texas, in which the station’s general manager declared Madonna’s commentary to be “un-American.”

Billboard reported that station manager Terry Thomas wrote in a statement: “Banning all Madonna songs at HITS 105 is not a matter of politics, it’s a matter of patriotism. It just feels wrong to us to be playing Madonna songs and paying her royalties when the artist has shown un-American sentiments.”

“If all stations playing Madonna took their lead from us, that would send a powerful economic message to Madonna,” Thomas added.

It would indeed send a message, though it remained unclear just how big of an impact such a message would make. It was also unclear just how often Madonna songs were previously played in the regular rotation, or if people would even miss hearing her old songs for the umpteenth time.

Billboard reached out to HITS 105 for comment, but did not immediately receive a response.
