Singer-songwriter and entrepreneur Will.i.am joked that he would move to Scotland if Donald Trump wins the presidential election in November.

Asked on the sidelines of London Fashion Week what he would do if there is a “President Trump” after the elections, Will.i.am said: “I’m moving to Scotland,” adding that he was “just kidding.”

Nonetheless, he said that the level of political engagement — particularly among the young in the U.S. — was worrying.

“The problem is that a lot of people feel that there’s no one that talks to them and because of that, they’re not going to engage and they’re not going to go out and vote, and these people are (often) first-time voters. They don’t know the stakes, and it’s really scary from that perspective — they don’t want to engage because there’s nothing speaking to them.”

Will.i.am, who was in London for the tech company i.am+’s launch of a range of fashion-conscious set of headphones, repeated that he was voting for Democrat Hillary Clinton.

“I’m voting for Hillary of course, all the way. Maybe you don’t think she’s an inspirational speaker but we don’t need that right now. Maybe you think she’s a little too cold and maybe you think ‘I don’t trust her,’ but … I sympathize for strong women that go out there and get it done. She has to be tough to compete and be successful in this man-driven world.”

“But we need someone who’s tough, we need a tough woman. Trump’s not tough, he’s just harsh and there’s a difference between tough and harsh. Anyone can build a wall,” Will.i.am said, referring to Trump’s repeated calls for a wall to be built between the U.S. and Mexico, “but building bridges (like Clinton can do), that’s tough. And we need bridges right now.”
