A fervent supporter of GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump surprised Trump’s running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, during a town hall event in Iowa this Wednesday by vividly describing what she had planned were the Democrat candidate, Hillary Clinton, to win the election next month.
“We are — there’s a lot of us out there saying that when we go to vote, we’re gonna wear red,” the incensed woman began. “Our lives depend on this election. Our kids’ futures depend on this election.”
“And I will tell you,” she continued, “just for me, and I don’t want this to happen, but I will tell you, for me personally, if Hillary Clinton gets in, I, myself, I’m ready for a revolution because we can’t have her in.”
Not shockingly, Pence then tried to rebut her, saying, “Yeah, you don’t wanna — don’t say that.” Keep in mind that as a public figure and political leader, it would not look good were the vice presidential candidate to endorse the idea of a potentially violent revolution.
The impassioned Trump supporter nevertheless doubled down.
“But I’m just sayin’ it,” she argued. “You know, I’m like Trump. You know, am I not speaking for people here? Am I not saying the truth, guys, come on?”
To observe the testy encounter, watch the video play:
“There’s a revolution coming on November 8 … I promise you” Pence replied, though the woman then brought up the legitimate issue of voter fraud.
“What are we going to do to safeguard our votes?” she asked. “Because we’ve seen how the Democratic Party is just crooked, crooked, crooked.”
Become a poll watcher, Pence argued, maintaining that anyone concerned about voter fraud “should volunteer to be a poll watcher.”
The fascinating back-and-forth exchange between the VP candidate and the unnamed woman highlighted just how troubled the political process in America had become.
Trust in government (and media, to boot) were at an all-time low — and with the nation seemingly teetering on the brink of cultural chaos, the only remaining option was a revolution of some kind, or so some frustrated Americans believed.
