Early October marked the 20th anniversary of the Fox News Channel’s first broadcast, but instead of being a time of celebration, it turned into a battle of the titans.
The battle reportedly broke out Wednesday evening, when top host Megyn Kelly fired a shot at GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump and his close friend, fellow Fox host Sean Hannity.
“Donald Trump, with all due respect to my friend at 10:00, will go on Hannity and pretty much only Hannity and will not venture out to the unsafe spaces these days, which doesn’t exactly expand the tent,” she said, as reported by Mediaite.

When Hannity heard about this, he was not pleased.
“@megynkelly u should be mad at @HillaryClinton,” he tweeted at her after the culmination of her broadcast. “Clearly you support her. And @realDonaldTrump did talk to u.”

As Mediaite correctly noted, however, Kelly’s statement “was more of a shot at Donald Trump in a segment where Kelly called out both him and Hillary Clinton for sticking with softball interviews instead of subjecting themselves to hard-hitting questions.”
The shot was not really directed at Hannity, which raised the question of why he chose to make such an outrageous accusation against his fellow host. It seemed like anger had gotten the best of him because of his fervent support for the GOP candidate.
Regardless, the feud caught the attention of CNN media correspondent Brian Stelter, who in the past has been referred to by Hannity as an “idiotic pipsqueak.”
“Friday is the 20th anniversary of Fox News,” he tweeted Wednesday evening. “What an incredible moment. This should be a celebratory week. Instead … Kelly-Hannity face-off.”

True, but at least Kelly and Hannity’s network was killing it in the ratings game, whereas Stelter’s network had become a big joke — much like the careers of many of its formerly biggest names.
