As with most days following President-elect Donald Trump’s electoral victory, members of the media were camped out in the lobby of Trump Tower Tuesday morning to make note of who was coming and going and holding talks with the transition team of the incoming administration.
TMZ reported that among the many guests was none other than billionaire Microsoft founder and liberal philanthropist Bill Gates.
While reporters certainly weren’t privy to the entire conversation held between two of the richest men in America, Gates shared some details in an interview with CNBC, and his remarks most likely had liberals shaking their heads.
Indeed, Gates stunned liberals and conservatives alike by comparing Trump with the heroic paragon of liberal idealism, President John F. Kennedy, at least in terms of his opportunity to provide “American leadership through innovation.”
“A lot of his message has been about … where he sees things not as good as he’d like,” Gates explained to the host of “Squawk Box.”
“But in the same way President Kennedy talked about the space mission and got the country behind that,” Gates continued, “I think whether it’s education or stopping epidemics … (or) in this energy space, there can be a very upbeat message that (Trump’s) administration (is) going to organize things, get rid of regulatory barriers, and have American leadership through innovation.”
Gates revealed that though they share some mutual friends, this was his first time he had met Trump, though they did speak on the phone recently about the power of innovation and its necessity for the success of business and the economy.
“Of course, my whole career has been along those lines. And he was interested in listening to that,” said Gates. “And I’m sure there will be further conversation.”
The International Business Times noted that Gates refrained from being too critical of Trump or rehashing any aspects of the campaign that weren’t to his liking, instead keeping a positive tone about the potential for greatness in this country that seems on the verge of being unleashed.
Gates noted that Trump has “a lot of flexibility” since he was elected by the people more on the strength of his leadership skills and success than for any specific policies, though some Trump supporters may quibble with Gates on that regard, pointing to a number of specific policies that Trump ran on.
Regardless, this is huge news that likely set liberal heads to spinning, as their devoted liberal tech god just offered high praise to a man liberals absolutely abhor by comparing him to another former president that liberals simply adore.
