Army veteran and three-term Kansas Rep. Mike Pompeo has been nominated by President-elect Donald Trump to be the Central Intelligence Agency’s new director, and if his Twitter timeline served as an indication of how he would run it, then he was clearly the right man for the job.
Just a cursory of glance of Pompeo’s Twitter timeline Friday morning showed how deep his passion for America’s national security interests ran.
According to McClatchyDC, for instance, the Kansas representative has been “one of the most vocal critics of the Obama administration’s nuclear deal with Iran.”
It showed on his Twitter timeline:
I look forward to rolling back this disastrous deal with the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism. https://t.co/bifC97jWpY

“I look forward to rolling back this disastrous deal with the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism,” he wrote in a tweet published Thursday, referencing President Barack Obama’s widely panned nuclear pact with Iran.
As a veteran who graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Pompeo was also exceptionally appreciative of the efforts made by our men and women in uniform.

“The stories of our veterans’ service are of tremendous value to the next generation,” he wrote in a tweet published Monday.
Moreover, Pompeo, who served on the House Select Benghazi Committee, was a stickler for the truth — so much so that after the committee released its report five months ago, he and Rep. Jim Jordan released their own.
Unlike the original report, however, Pompeo’s “was even more sharply critical of (former Secretary of State Hillary) Clinton’s handling of the affair,” as reported by McClatchyDC.
But the representative’s best trait lay with his willingness to be politically incorrect about the state of the world, especially with regard to radical Islam.
“When the most devastating terrorist attacks on America in the last 20 years come overwhelmingly from people of a single faith, and are performed in the name of that faith, a special obligation falls on those that are the leaders of that faith,” he bluntly said on the House floor weeks after the Boston marathon bombing in 2013.
Talk about a breath of fresh air. Great choice, Mr. President-elect.
