On the campaign trail, then-candidate Donald Trump vowed that he would move quickly, once elected, to eradicate the Islamic State terror group and all other radical Islamic terror groups from the face of the earth.
Trump has been working to keep his promise. On Friday, he told the crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference he would be moving quickly to “obliterate” the Islamic State group, the U.K. Daily Mail reported.
“As part of my pledge to restore safety for the American people, I have also directed the defense community to develop a plan to totally obliterate ISIS. Working with our allies, we will eradicate this evil from the face of the earth,” Trump stated.
McClatchy reported that the Pentagon was expected to present Trump with a new plan to defeat the Islamic State group this week, following Trump’s directive that he issued in late January. Pentagon officials have refused to rule out using ground troops to defeat the barbaric terrorists.
“We’ve been given a task to go to the president with options to accelerate the defeat of ISIS specifically, but obviously other violent extremist groups as well,” Marine Gen. Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told reporters Thursday.
The Washington Post noted that Al Qaeda-linked groups have been making some serious headway in northern Syria, so any plan to defeat “other violent extremist groups” would have to include a plan to defeat those groups has well.
It’s time to stop playing whack-a-mole with these radical barbarians and wipe them all out. Hopefully, the plan that Trump is presented will be enough to take out these terror groups once and for all.
Trump vowed to let the military do what it needed to do to eradicate radical Islamic terrorism from the world. Now, it’s up to the military planners to formulate a plan to get it done.
The future of this country depends on them.
