President-elect Donald Trump has been announcing key members of his cabinet and administration over the past month. Many of these names have caused Republicans to cheer because they are at the top of their respective fields.
Trump continued his chain of stellar picks when he appointed Robert Lighthizer to serve as U.S. trade representative, the U.K. Daily Mail reported.
Lighthizer has an extensive history in trade. He was the deputy U.S. trade representative under President Ronald Reagan, so he clearly has experience in the field.
“Ambassador Lighthizer is going to do an outstanding job representing the United States as we fight for good trade deals that put the American worker first,” Trump said in a statement.
Lighthizer has also been an outspoken critic of China, Bloomberg reported, something that will make him an even better fit in the Trump administration.
“He has extensive experience striking agreements that protect some of the most important sectors of our economy, and has repeatedly fought in the private sector to prevent bad deals from hurting Americans,” said Trump.
Trump has assembled a team of experts who know exactly what they are doing and will be able to hit the ground running once they are confirmed by the Senate.
With so much as stake, Trump knows he has to move quickly if he is to secure America’s future. Trump has made it clear that he is going to follow through on his promise of “America first” by appointing the best people for the job.
The next four years promise to be exciting. Already we are seeing companies like Ford coming back to America just because of what they think will happen during a Trump presidency. Imagine what will happen once Trump is actually president!
