Trump Slams Hawaii Judge Who Blocked Second Version of Travel Ban

On Wednesday evening, President Donald Trump’s revised travel ban was dealt a blow when a federal judge in Hawaii, U.S. District Judge Derrick Watson, issued a nationwide freeze on the order.

At a rally in Nashville on Wednesday evening, Trump announced to a chorus of boos that the judge had stopped his order.

Trump stated that the order that was blocked by the Obama-appointed judge was a “watered-down version” of the original order and that the revised order had been “tailored” to the “flawed rulings” of the 9th Circuit Court that had denied the original ban.

“This is … an unprecedented judicial overreach,” Trump stated. “The law and the Constitution give the president the power to suspend immigration when he deems, or she — fortunately it will not be Hillary she …”

At that point, the crowd went absolutely wild and began chanting “Lock her up!” — a familiar refrain from Trump’s campaign against scandal-plagued Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

“When he or she deems it to be in the national interest of our country,” Trump continued as the crowd continued to chant.

“This ruling makes us look weak,” Trump stated. “We’re going to fight this terrible ruling. We’re going take our case as far as it needs to go, including all the way up to the Supreme Court. We’re going to win; we’re going to keep our citizens safe.”

Trump is absolutely right that this was judicial overreach. The law is very clear that the president of the United States has the authority to suspend immigration. However, these liberal judges don’t like Trump’s politics, so they try to legislate from the bench.

Trump stated that he would take the original case all the way to the Supreme Court, but he didn’t pursue it. Hopefully he will take this one as far as it needs to go. America’s security isn’t an acceptable area for compromise.
