Reflecting on the weight of his office, President Donald Trump says he needs “God even more” after assuming his duties to the nation and its people.

Trump, a practicing Presbyterian Christian, delivered his comments Friday while speaking with investigative journalist David Brody on the Christian Broadcasting Network’s The Brody File.

“I would say that the office is so powerful that you need God even more because your decisions are no longer, ‘Gee, I’m going to build a building in New York,’ or ‘I’m going to do this,’” the president said.

“These are questions of massive life and death, even with regard to health care,” Trump added.

Stressing the importance he places on providing Americans with affordable access to health care, the president remarked, “You know we’re working very hard on health care. But there, you’re talking about life and death and you’re talking about better lives.”

“People living better because they have better health care at a lower price, which we’re working very hard on,” he continued.

“So yes, you realize these decisions are all so important. There’s almost not a decision that you make when you’re sitting in this position that isn’t a really life-altering position. So God comes in even more so,” Trump concluded.

In the same interview, Trump said Christian refugees under the oppression of ISIS would be treated better under his administration.

“They’ve been horribly treated. Do you know if you were a Christian in Syria it was impossible, at least very tough, to get into the United States?” he said. “And I thought it was very, very unfair. So we are going to help them.”

In its first week, the Trump administration has already embraced many policies that Christian conservatives support.

One example is its pro-life agenda, an issue of great significance to practicing Christians across numerous denominations.

Earlier Friday, Vice President Mike Pence made history as the first vice president to attend the March for Life.

Brody’s full interview will be broadcast Sunday on CBN.
