Trump Promises To Make “Historic Financial Investment” in U.S. Military

Trump Promises To Make Historic Financial Investment in US Military

On Monday, President Donald Trump visited MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, to greet the troops stationed there and to thank them for their service to their country.

During his brief remarks to the troops, Trump vowed to fight for them, never to leave them behind and, perhaps most importantly, to give them the equipment they need, The New York Times reported.

Trump promised to make “a historic financial investment in the armed forces.” That’s bound to make many service members happy after the way the previous administration treated them.

Time reported that Trump also promised that while the military would be built up, his administration would take steps to ensure that money wasn’t simply being thrown around and wasted.

“But we will ensure no taxpayer dollars are wasted. I have already saved more than $700 million when I got involved in the negotiation on the F-35 (fighter aircraft). You know about that,” he said.

In addition to his promise to give troops “beautiful new planes and beautiful new equipment,” Trump ripped into the media for failing to report on the true number of terror attacks that have occurred around the world, The Hill reported.

“It’s gotten to a point where it’s not even being reported,” Trump explained. “And in many cases, the very, very dishonest press doesn’t want to report it.”

Trump campaigned on promises that he wouldn’t be afraid to challenge radical Islamic terrorism and that he would always support the military.

His speech on Monday showed that he meant what he said on the campaign trail. Trump respects our military, and he wants the armed forces to have whatever they need to get the job done — and get it done well.
