On Friday, President-elect Donald Trump filed a lawsuit with the Michigan Court of Appeals demanding that the state’s election officials halt their plans to recount the votes from the Nov. 8 presidential election.
“Without immediate action by this Court, Trump will continue to suffer irreparable injury,” the lawsuit reportedly read, adding that failed 2016 Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein, the woman responsible for the recount in the first place, had not provided sufficient reason to trigger a recount.
“Stein has not alleged that she can win Michigan’s presidential election as the result of a recount, but instead contends that only vague assertions of being aggrieved are sufficient to trigger a recount of nearly 5 million votes,” the lawsuit continued.
According to the Detroit Patch, the suit was filed after the state’s Board of Canvassers deadlocked on an objection previously made by Trump’s campaign requesting that the recount scheduled for Monday not proceed.

Stein filed her own suit Friday, though hers differed from Trump’s like night from day. She reportedly wanted to challenge the two-business-day waiting period for the approved recount, because apparently, patience was not a virtue she appreciated.
“Such needless delay risks the recount will not be completed before the deadline — a result which would render the presidential vote in the state of Michigan utterly meaningless,” her attorney Mark Brewer wrote, as reported by The Detroit News.
Technically, however, Stein was somewhat outnumbered, as Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette had also filed a lawsuit against election officials, calling the scheduled recount “frivolous and expensive,” according to The Hill.
