Trump Considering Removing Immigrants Who Receive Welfare Benefits

President Donald Trump has been moving quickly over the past few weeks on executive orders to implement his agenda and show those who voted for him that he is sticking to the promises he made on the campaign trail.

When it comes to illegal immigration, Trump has been working hard to craft orders that would follow through on his promises. However, a new order Trump is considering could result in millions of deportations of even legal immigrants, according to The Washington Post.

This new order, which is only a draft at this point, could deport immigrants who rely on welfare. This could potentially save the taxpayers millions of dollars.

“Our country’s immigration laws are designed to protect American taxpayers and promote immigrant self-sufficiency. Yet households headed by aliens are much more likely than those headed by citizens to use Federal means-tested public benefits,” read a memo attached to a draft of the order, which was obtained by The Washington Post.

The draft order would seek to limit legal immigration by those who are likely to end up on public assistance, and establish a process to create guidelines to make it possible to deport immigrants who do end up on the welfare rolls, according to the memo obtained by the newpspaper.

It would “deny admission to any alien who is likely to become a public charge” and begin rules to determine “whether an alien is deportable . . . for having become a public charge within five years of entry.” According to the Post, that would entail an immigrant “receiving a certain amount of public assistance, including food stamps, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and Medicaid.”

We should stress that there has been no indication from the White House that this order will in fact be signed. It is common practice for dozens of draft executive orders to be created. Just because something has been written doesn’t mean it will ever become law.

The Washington Post reported that another draft executive order calls for shaking up the nation’s entire immigration system by restricting who could enter this country to join the workforce.

If you think you’ve seen liberals upset up to this point, just imagine how they will react if one, or both, of these executive orders are signed into action.

Their heads might literally explode from rage.

If Trump does sign new executive orders on illegal immigration, or immigration in general, he will do so on the grounds that what he is doing will help Americans who have been struggling for years.

While liberals may not like it, Trump is certainly following through on his promise of “America first.”
