Trump Asks Comey to Stay on as Head of FBI

The man the Democrats can’t stop blaming for their loss in November will be staying on during the Trump administration after the new president asked him to remain in his job.

According to The New York Times, FBI Director James Comey informed his top agents that President Trump had asked him to stay at the head of the nation’s top federal law enforcement agency.

Comey, a former Department of Justice official during the Bush administration, was appointed to head the FBI by President Barack Obama in 2013. Term lengths for FBI directors were set at 10 years to help maintain the nonpartisan nature of the FBI. There were some questions, though, over whether Comey would be retained by the current administration.

However, keeping Comey would keep the Trump administration from yet another confirmation fight with grandstanding Senate Democrats. It would also rankle a party which has used Comey as a convenient scapegoat for its failures at the ballot box last November.

Comey was widely criticized by Democrats after he re-opened an investigation into Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton’s private email server after additional emails were found on the confiscated laptop of Clinton associate and serial pervert Anthony Weiner.

Even though Comey cleared Clinton before the Nov. 8 election, the FBI director’s name has joined a holy trinity of chimerical scapegoats for Clinton’s loss, joining fake news and Russian hacking as definitive reasons America just didn’t get how awesome Hillary Rodham Clinton was.

“There are lots of reasons why an election like this is not successful,” Hillary said in a conference call with donors after the election, according to The New York Times. “(O)ur analysis is that Comey’s letter raising doubts that were groundless, baseless, proven to be, stopped our momentum.”

Bill Clinton shared the same estimation.

“I watched her battle that bogus email deal . .. .She prevailed against it all,” the former president told reporters back in December, according to the New York Post. “Then in the end we had the Russians and the FBI deal. She couldn’t prevail against that. She did everything else and still won by 2.8 million votes.”

Even former Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid got in on the act, writing a profoundly unhinged open letter to Comey before the election that threatened the FBI director with charges under the Hatch Act.

“Your actions in recent months have demonstrated a disturbing double standard for the treatment of sensitive information, with what appears to be a clear intent to aid one political party over another,” Reid said, according to CBS News. Reid added that because of Comey’s “partisan actions, you may have broken the law.”

Yeah, it’s funny how investigating the mishandling of classified information can be such a partisan action when Hillary Clinton happens to be involved.

Few individuals have been so roundly pilloried by the left for the mere act of doing their job since Kenneth Starr. The Times reported that “some people close to (Hillary Clinton) have said that she was willing to endure whatever political cost was necessary in order to ensure Mr. Comey lost his job” had she won the election.

Thank God she never got to make that choice.
