A waiter in Houston can finally visit home again, thanks to a generous $750 tip he received on a $182.87 tab.

Home for the waiter, Ben Millar is all the way in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

In the course of his duties, the 22-year-old Millar got to talking to a patron named Jeffrey, he told ABC News. Jeffrey had just been in Ireland for vacation to watch a U2 concert.

Jeffrey’s family regularly visits Ireland and Millar mentioned he hadn’t been home in nearly two years.

In the course of the conversation between the two men, Millar said he told Jeffrey, “I wish I could go back that often to see my family.”

“I thought nothing of it, and we all joked after,” he said. “The night went on, and I proceeded to give good service and talk to them.”

At the conclusion of the meal, Millar was shocked when he picked up the checkbook and discovered that he had been given a $750 tip.

Millar told ABC News that, “My initial reaction was shouting, ‘Holy s—!’”

Jeffrey had added a hand-written note on the bottom of the receipt: “Hopefully, this can get you back to Ireland for the holidays.”

Millar showed the receipt to a friend who has worked at the restaurant for the last 11 years. Millar said his friend had “never had a tip” like the one he received from Jeffrey.

What does Millar plan on doing with the money?

His girlfriend, Taryn Keith, 21, is expecting their baby in January, and after the child is born they will be using the money for a trip back to his family’s home in Belfast.

Keith was overjoyed with the generosity they received, posting to Facebook, “My boyfriend got this tip last night at work. He’s from Ireland and is trying to take us back there once Killian is born so we can meet his family. Thought I would share it to show everyone that’s there is not only hate out there. Truly blessed.”

Millar said he wants Jeffrey to know how grateful he is. “It means a lot to me, but more to my family back home who will benefit from seeing me again since almost two years.”

He said he would “love if Jeffrey could come over when I go back, so I can show him the true Northern Ireland, not just the tourist aspect.”
