The Christmas season is generally understood to be a time of giving, particularly for those individuals in our lives whom we most love and appreciate.

So it is that pop music sensation Taylor Swift, who is known for giving back to her fans from time to time, just gave the gift of a lifetime to quite possibly her oldest fan and his family.

According to Ozarks First, 96-year-old World War II veteran Cyrus Porter of New Madrid, Missouri, recently admitted to a local reporter that he was a big fan of the popular singer, mostly because her music served as a bridge between him and his more than 20 grandchildren.

He stated that he loves her music and has even been to two concerts and said he hoped he’d have a chance to see her perform live once again before his time on earth expired.

“I just enjoyed going to see ’em and her. I would as soon go see her right now as anybody!” Porter explained. “I just liked the way she did stuff.”

According to People, Porter’s Christmas wish was granted, as Swift made a surprise appearance at his house on the day after Christmas to meet with him and perform a nearly hour-long acoustic concert for him and his family.

Have a look:

The impromptu event was documented on social media by several of Porter’s grandchildren, and included Porter showing Swift some of his WWII memorabilia and her performing several of her hit songs for the family, including “Shake It Off.”

According to Fox News, Porter would never have expected such a thing to happen in his “wildest dreams” and was blown away by the “Christmas miracle” with which he and his family had been blessed.

Swift not only granted the wish of one of her oldest fans, but also paid well-deserved honor to one of our nation’s heroes.
