After President-elect Donald Trump handed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton a humiliating loss in November’s general election, the liberal media immediately began looking for something to blame it on.
Rather than accepting that Clinton has the personality of a cyborg from the Terminator franchise, the media began to claim that “fake news” spreading across the internet from alternative media sites was why Trump won.
Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke took issue with this and issued a blistering retort to the mainstream media’s insistence that “fake news” was the reason Trump won, The Daily Caller reported.
In a Tweet, Clarke criticized several mainstream media outlets for being the ones who really started the fake news trend when they started the “hands up, don’t shoot” narrative from the Ferguson shooting that later turned out to be false.

“‘Fake news’ was born in August 2014 in Ferguson MO. when (MSNBC, The New York Times, The Washington Post and CNN) all propagated the Hands up, Don’t shoot lie,” he wrote.
These media outlets quickly spread the “hands up, don’t shoot” narrative that Michael Brown had been shot by police while his hands were raised in surrender without bothering to check its credibility. The Washington Post eventually did admit that the narrative was a bunch of baloney, but by then the damage was done.
The media seem to have also conveniently forgotten that one of the biggest names in journalism, Brian Williams, was suspended for six months because he admitted he faked his story about landing in Iraq under fire, CBS News reported.
Yes, fake news is out there, but a vast majority of the time, “fake” news is simply the result of an error. Events move quickly and sometimes facts get jumbled up. In the world of Twitter and other social media platforms that attempt to convey news in real time, it is very easy for mistakes to be made.
But often the liberal media will publish fake news with malicious intent. Just look what they did during the general election. We all remember the headlines that misinterpreted Trump’s comments via selectively edited quotes. They didn’t even bother trying to hide what they were doing.
Before criticizing alternative media sites, the liberal media need to take a long, hard look in the mirror when it comes to fake news.
