Former Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein’s push for a recount in three key swing states has irritated many Democrats and Republicans alike who just want to move past the election and accept that Donald Trump is the president-elect, though many supporters of failed Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton appear to be enjoying the continued tension and hostility.
Basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal is one of the people who’d just like to move on. O’Neal explained on Wednesday that all this recount nonsense was ridiculous and that America just needed to give Trump a chance, The Hill reported.
“We have a process that’s been going on forever,” he explained. “And whoever wins, you just hope he does what he says he’s going to do. You know, candidate Trump promised a lot of people a lot of things.”
If only more people shared that sentiment.
“Now that he’s president-elect, you just hope that he can make the world a better place. He won fair and square. We have to give him a chance,” he said. “There’s no need talking about recounts and this and that.”
O’Neal and Trump have a long history, which might explain his optimistic attitude. The New York Daily Newsnoted that the two had a “15-year friendship,” so it is likely O’Neal knows Trump better than the liberals chanting that he isn’t their president.
The International Business Times reported that few NBA players have come out in support of Trump — which isn’t that much of a surprise.
Whether or not you voted for him, Trump is now your president. He has a real chance to enact positive change for America — and he’s already started with his Carrier deal that saved roughly 1,000 jobs from being sent to Mexico.
Trump is a man of his word. With a unified Republican Congress, Americans everywhere may finally benefit from ideas that offer a chance to Make America Great Again.
