Sanders Calls Clinton Most Unpopular Candidate in American History

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders addressed supporters at the Our Revolution event in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, where he finally dropped the veil that he has been forced to hold up up since conceding the Democrat nomination to Hillary Clinton. At the event Sanders told the crowd the truth.

“The painful truth is that despite President (Barack) Obama’s strong victories in 2008 and 2012, the Democratic Party has lost enormous political ground over the last eight years,” the independent socialist said. “That’s just the truth.

“Running against the most unpopular presidential candidate in history, the Republicans have just won the White House,” he added.

For Sanders to turn so quickly on his party’s presidential nominee, even given their sometimes ugly clashes during the Democrat primaries, is telling. Obviously, his message was directed against the leadership of the entire party — he called for fundamental change — but his words about Clinton were particularly cutting.

Bernie Sanders has had to play nice to Clinton during the time she was nominated as the party’s pick for president, but now that she has lost, maybe we will start seeing Sanders begin to expose the truth about the Clintons once and for all.

As crazy as we generally consider Sanders to be, we have to admit it’s nice to see someone telling the truth about the Democrat Party from the inside.
