Obama Officials Purposefully Tried To Undermine Trump Before Leaving Office

A stunning report published Wednesday revealed that during the final days of former President Barack Obama’s administration, a number of top officials worked to undermine the upcoming presidency of then-President-elect Donald Trump.

They did so by actively dispersing classified intelligence regarding communications and meetings between Russian officials and the president-elect’s associates.

“At intelligence agencies, there was a push to process as much raw intelligence as possible into analyses, and to keep the reports at a relatively low classification level to ensure as wide a readership as possible across the government,” reported The New York Times.

This was the same intelligence that helped bring down former National Security Adviser Michael T. Flynn, who resigned from his post last month after it was revealed he had mislead key White House officials about the nature of his communications with Russian diplomats.

This was also the same information that recently spurred a new scandal surrounding Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who has been accused of having first met with a top Russian diplomat in Washington last year and then later failed to mention the meetings during his confirmation hearings earlier this year.

According to the Times, officials in the Obama administration pursued an opposite approach for “the most sensitive intelligence.”

“Officials tightened the already small number of people who could access that information. They knew the information could not be kept from the new president or his top advisers, but wanted to narrow the number of people who might see the information.”

What remains unclear is whether Obama himself directed any of these actions. The Times’ sources claimed no, but Trump has maintained otherwise.

“I think that President Obama is behind it because his people are certainly behind it,” he said Monday during an interview on Fox & Friends, referencing the recent hash of damaging leaks that have reported on by the media.

“And some of the leaks possibly come from that group, which are really serious because they are very bad in terms of national security. But I also understand that is politics. In terms of him being behind things, that’s politics. And it will probably continue.”

By “that group,” the president meant the secret opposition group that Obama has reportedly been leading behind the scenes to undermine the current president.

Since stepping down from office two months ago, Obama has issued only one statement regarding Trump.

The statement was an indictment of the president’s moratorium on immigration from terror-prone nations.
