Petition Seeks Ouster Of Professor Whose Husband Harassed Ivanka Trump

More than 6,000 people have signed a petition demanding that New York’s Hunter College give the boot to a professor whose husband harassed Ivanka Trump on a passenger jet last Thursday.

In the incident, Matthew Lasner and his husband, Dan Goldstein, were thrown off of a JetBlue flight from New York City to San Francisco after Goldstein harassed Trump and her family.

The petition at says Lasner should be removed because of his actions that day.

“Matt Lasner’s conduct is a direct representation of Hunter College. We believe his immature and cruel harassment of Ivanka Trump and her family at JFK airport should be met with disciplinary action,” the petition says.

“The fact that someone who would be involved in such conduct is teaching students is very troubling. We are petitioning that Hunter College take ACTION,” it says.

“Someone like Mr. Lasner, who would harass a mother and her child simply trying to go about their day, does not deserve the honor of teaching,” the petition continues.

“The fact that he tried to cover up and change the story around to avoid the consequences of his actions is also a testament to his character. He is NOT a good example for our youth,” it says.

After the incident, Lasner said on Twitter, “My husband expressed his displeasure in a calm tone, JetBlue staff overheard, and they kicked us off the plane.”

However, that tweet contradicted one sent previously in which Lasner said Goldstein had seen Trump and her husband at the airport and was “chasing them down to harass them.”

The tweets were later deleted.

Goldstein, a lawyer from Brooklyn, confronted Trump and told her, “Your father is ruining the country.”

He then caused a disruption by shouting, “Why is she on our flight? She should be flying private.”

Marc Scheff, a passenger sitting in front of Trump, made it clear that she did not ask to have Goldstein removed.

“[Goldstein] didn’t accost her directly. When he got on and saw her, sitting behind me, he said, ‘Oh my god. This is a nightmare,’ and was visibly shaking. He said, ‘They ruin the country now they ruin our flight!’” Scheff said.

“He did not yell. He was also not what I would describe as calm. Agitated maybe. His husband behind him was very calm,” Scheff said.

“When the JetBlue staff went back to speak to the man I overheard Ivanka say to them, ‘I don’t want to make this a thing.’ My assessment is that she was happy to let the man take his seat. Security made a different call,” he said.

Trump never engaged Goldstein, but instead tried to distract her children with crayons, another passenger reported. Because the flight was still boarding when the incident took place, JetBlue staff were able to remove Goldstein and Lasner.
