Anyone thinking that Vice President-elect Mike Pence is going to soften and compromise his conservatism once he and President-elect Donald Trump enter the White House is going to be very sorely mistaken. On Wednesday, he told the media exactly what area of the swamp they’re going to work on draining first: Obamacare.

According to Fox News, Pence told a news conference in Washington, D.C., that the new administration would be committed to repealing and replacing outgoing President Barack Obama’s signature piece of bad legislation.

“It was a promise made on the campaign trail,” Pence said at the news conference, which came after a meeting with GOP members of the House of Representatives. “The first order of business is to repeal and replace Obamacare … People voted for a better health care system, and we owe them that.”

“It needs to be done, not just as a promise kept, but because in the course of this election, the American people had a choice and what appeared to many as against all odds … our president-elect took his case to the American people to repeal and replace Obamacare,” Pence continued, according to Breitbart.

The American people, Pence said, voted for a “better future for health care in this country.”

The repeal process, according to Pence, would be a “two-track approach,” with Trump crafting executive actions helping to ease the transition and Congress passing the necessary legislation for Obamacare to be repealed.

“It will be a legislative and executive action agenda to assure an orderly transition to something better,” the vice president-elect said.

Liberals, needless to say, were furious. New Senate Minority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., addressed reporters after what he described as a “very inspiring” meeting with President Obama on the topic of saving his signature piece of legislation.

“It would make America sick again, lead to chaos instead of affordable care,” the very punny Schumer said. “They have no idea what to put in place of (Obamacare). They talked about repeal, but for five years they have nothing to put in its place.”

Yes, how did we ever survive without Obamacare? Oh, wait, we survived without 22 percent year-over-year premium hikes and we got to keep our doctors. Never mind. Repeal away, Mr. Pence!
