It seems as though President-elect Donald Trump is making good on his promise to get rid of wasteful spending — as it was announced Thursday that his transition team has finished under budget.

“Wrapping up this transition on schedule and under budget,” Vice-president Elect Mike Pence said during a press conference.

Alluding to Trump’s business acumen, the incoming vice-president boasted, “he’s a businessman who knows how to sharpen his pencil.”

According to Pence, the transition team will be returning 20 percent of the taxpayer-funded budget to the U.S. Treasury.

The Presidential Transition Act appropriated about $6 million to Trump’s transition efforts. Around $1.2 million will be returned.

The vice-president elect thanked supporters for getting as many people as they could in place for jobs before the inauguration.

He also gave a nod to President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.

“The cooperation that the outgoing administration has extended in this transition effort would make every American proud,” Pence said.

When discussing the incoming administration’s strategy, the vice-president elect said they’d already outlined the details.

“We focused … on a Day One, a Day 100 and a Day 200 action plan” in an effort to put “the president-elect’s promises into action,” Pence told reporters.

Referring to Trump’s swearing-in on Friday afternoon, incoming press secretary Sean Spicer claimed his team was “ready to go at 12:01.”

Spicer said Trump was bringing in the best people for the job, and that diversity is “not just about skin color and ethnic heritage” but also about “diversity of thinking.”

“If you look at the totality of the people that he’s meeting with, the people that he’s bringing in … it’s probably something to hold up second to none,” Spicer added.

The Trump administration is ready to hit the ground running.

“Our job is to be ready on day one. The American people can be confident that we will be,” Pence said. “We are all ready to go to work. In fact, we can’t wait to go to work for the American people to make America great again.”
