Instead of playing “Hail to the Chief” whenever President Barack Obama made an appearance, perhaps we should have gone instead with “Holiday Road.” It certainly would have been a lot more fitting.
After spending eight years in office taking vacation after vacation and sending the bill to the American taxpayer, the outgoing president is pretty tired.
That’s why he and the rest of the Obamas will be leaving office to go — you guessed it — on another vacation.
According to TMZ, this one won’t be to Obama’s native Hawaii, a favorite haunt of his. No, instead the by-then-former president will board Special Air Mission 29000 at Andrews Air Force Base — the plane the president would normally use as Air Force One but not designated as such when the active president isn’t on board — and jet off to sunny Palm Springs, California.
“The president vowed to take his family to a destination that is warmer than Washington, D.C., on Friday and Palm Springs fits the bill,” Dickensian-named White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said on Tuesday, according to The Desert Sun.
“This is a community that the president has visited on a number of occasions as president of the United States,” he added. “He and his family have enjoyed the time they’ve spent there in the past. And they’re looking forward to traveling there on Friday.”

Palm Springs, as you may know, is a resort town of a little less than 50,000 people frequented by such celebrities as Frank Sinatra and Bob Hope.
It’s nestled in the Coachella Valley, home to the hipster-friendly Coachella Music and Arts Festival. I’m sure that will make the former president feel right at home.
After eight years of vacationing, it seems fitting that the president feels that he needs to take a break from taking a break. This time, however, one hopes the entire bill won’t go to the American taxpayer. Please like and share on Facebook and Twitter if you agree.
