National Geographic To Put Transgender on Cover of Magazine

Liberals have made it quite clear that transgenderism and the notion that gender identity is flexible is a hill they are willing to die on, and they have pressed their advantage in the media in an effort to force the normalization of a mental disorder.

According to Mashable, the National Geographic magazine decided to make history by placing a feminine boy who thinks he is a girl on the cover of its January issue, which is almost entirely devoted to exploring and celebrating transgenderism and other gender questions.

The boy, 9-year-old Avery Jackson, was pictured with dyed pink hair and wearing a girl’s pink clothing, above a caption that read: “The best thing about being a girl is, now I don’t have to pretend to be a boy.”

An alternate cover for the “Gender Revolution” issue was also produced featuring seven teenagers of various races and gender identities.

Nat Geo‘s editor-in-chief Susan Goldberg offered an explanation for the special issue on its website, noting the tens of thousands of people who responded to the photos, some good, some bad, some even promising to cancel their subscriptions.

Addressing the long-held, scientifically and biologically proven, common-sense observation that gender is in fact binary — that means two genders, boy and girl — Goldberg wrote, “Today that and other beliefs about gender are shifting rapidly and radically. That’s why we’re exploring the subject this month, looking at it through the lens of science, social systems and civilizations throughout history.”

She noted that her team had traveled to eight different countries and interviewed and photographed some 80 children who had questions regarding their own gender, gender roles in their societies and how gender had influenced their lives thus far.

But according to Breitbart, the push to expand gender beyond the simple boy/girl reality was not supported by the professionals who make up the American College of Pediatricians.

They worried that children confused over gender identity are at a high risk of suffering or further developing mental health disorders such as gender dysphoria or gender identity disorder, as it is listed in the all-encompassing Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, the bible of the American Psychiatric Association.

Going even further, they cautioned against adults pushing the transgender narrative: “Conditioning children into believing that a lifetime of chemical and surgical impersonation of the opposite sex is normal and healthful is child abuse.”

Amazingly enough, their view was supported by the self-proclaimed “left-leaning, open-minded and pro-gay rights” individuals who make up the Youth Trans Critical Professionals organization, who maintain that pushing or encouraging a transgender mindset and lifestyle on still-developing children was “risky.”

“Our concern is with medical transition for children and youth,” their website said. “We feel that unnecessary surgeries and/or hormonal treatments which have not been proven safe in the long term represent significant risks for young people.”

“Policies that encourage — either directly or indirectly — such medical treatment for young people who may not be able to evaluate the risks and benefits are highly suspect, in our opinion,” the organization continued, adding that they have grown alarmed by the increasing trendiness of transgenderism, particularly among “vulnerable young people.”

Unfortunately, as has become commonplace with other progressive issues, a loud minority has demanded that the majority who disagree with them not only be forced to accept and tolerate them, but also embrace and join them in their deviancy.

If confused adults want to pretend they are actually of the opposite sex, more power to them. Just don’t push it on us, and for sure don’t push it on malleable children who don’t know any better and are unable to make informed choices on their own.
