Alveda King, the niece of Martin Luther King Jr., argued Wednesday that Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s attempt to impugn then-Attorney General-nominee Jeff Sessions’ character by reading a letter written 30 years ago by Coretta Scott King was nothing more than an attempt to play the despicable race card.
Though it was true that Coretta King had written the scathing, 1986 letter about Sessions, who at the time was a nominee to be a federal judge, things have changed drastically since those days, Alveda King maintained.
“(S)he would agree today that he of course ended some school segregation, he worked to prosecute members of the KKK,” she said on the Fox Business Network. “Aunt Coretta was a very reasonable women and she, with integrity, would have noted that he had done some great work in fighting against discrimination.
“I believe certainly that if she could look at the record of Senator Sessions today, with integrity, she would say, ‘Well, he has worked to prosecute the Ku Klux Klan, he has worked to desegregate public schools,’ so it’s almost like a bait and switch, stir up their emotions, use the name King, and my name is Alveda King, play the race card,” she added.
Continuing her stern repudiation of Warren’s race-baiting tactics, King noted that unlike the Massachusetts senator, she and her family members were not dividers.
“We are taking a look at many things that Mrs. Coretta Scott King said, Martin Luther King Jr., my daddy A.D. King,” she said. “But our family — we are peacemakers, we bring people together … we do not divide people.”

Warren, on the other hand, was a divider, a race-baiter and a liar — one who later falsely claimed to her Facebook followers that Senate Republicans had denied her the opportunity to read Coretta King’s letter on the Senate floor.
In just a matter of days, this woman managed to exploit MLK’s wife’s words, impugn another senator’s character, play the race card and lie to her followers.
Wow. For a lady who called Jeff Sessions a “disgrace,” Elizabeth Warren would do well to take a close look in the mirror sometime.
