McDonald’s has found a way to keep up with rising labor costs, and it’s probably not going to please those who are fighting for a higher minimum wage.
The restaurant chain announced that a self-service kiosk would be placed at one of its Boston stores on Jan. 31 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The freestanding automated cheeseburger machine will offer three different sizes of Big Macs: traditional, the Mac Jr. and the Grand Mac, the Boston Metro reported.
Customers will apparently be able to order a burger without ever interacting with a human.
McDonald’s franchisees have complained about rising labor costs.
“At least half of the operators in my region are on the verge of collapse,” one franchisee wrote in response to a recent survey, according to Business Insider. “With minimum wage for fast food workers potentially increasing to incredibly high levels, we are facing a crisis situation.”
Another franchisee wrote that the minimum wage issue was a “major threat to the survival of the operator community” and that McDonald’s should be “putting every resource available” into finding ways to save money.
Kiosks are simply the result of restaurants trying to make a profit and stay in business while Democrats do their best to put them out of business with their “Fight for $15” agenda.
As usual, Democrats have made things worse by claiming to make them better. Small businesses that cannot afford automated technology may simply have to go out of business because they cannot pay employees minimum wage, and larger corporations will simply invest in technology that replaces human workers.
Either way, those jobs are lost — thanks to Democrats and their lopsided logic.
