Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey has become the latest Hollywood celebrity to come out against other celebrities throwing fits over Donald Trump’s election to the presidency.
“Well, they don’t have a choice now. He’s our president,” McConaughey said in the interview. “And, it’s very dynamic and as divisive of an inauguration and time as we’ve ever had. At the same time, it’s time for us to embrace and shake hands with this fact. And be constructive with him over the next four years.”
“So anyone, even those who may strongly disagree with his principles or things he’s said and done — and that’s another thing, we’ll see what he does compares to what he has said — no matter how much you even disagreed along the way, it’s time to think about how constructive can you be,” he continued.
McConaughey said that celebrities protesting for the sake of protesting Trump should stop “‘cause he’s our president for the next four years, at least … the president of the United States.”

While adult thinking of this kind is rare in Hollywood, it’s not unheard of. Movie legend and fellow Oscar winner Morgan Freeman also expressed his weariness with protests in a recent interview.
“As for politics today, I supported Hillary (Clinton) in the election, and now it feels like we are jumping off a cliff,” Freeman said, according to the U.K. Daily Mail. “We just have to find out how we land. I’m not scared, though.
‘”I’m holding out hope that Donald Trump has to be a good president. He can’t not be. What I see is a guy who will not lose,” he added.
Of course, most of Hollywood is busy giving speeches about how they’d like to blow up the White House. It is good to see at least a little bit of sanity on the West Coast, though.
